With temperatures quickly dropping each week, we’ve been inspired to compile our favourite cold weather approved outerwear trends for Fall/Winter 2015.
Take a look at the top 4 trends we love:
1. Fur and Shearling
The always luxurious style staple that can make any ordinary outfit look stunning and ultra-luxe, fur and shearling are top trends each season that we think every woman should invest in. We are literally seeing it everywhere this year, from entire vests made of fur, to fur lined collars and shoes. Here are a few ideas of how to wear it and what pieces to look out for. Luckily for you, we have some similar styles in stores here, and here!
2. The Robe Coat (a.k.a. The Belted Trench)
The robe coat has been a popular choice amongst fashionistas, celebs and bloggers for the past few years now. We’ve seen them in all different fabrics and colours, but we think if you’re going to invest in one, it must serve an important function: i.e. it has to be warm. So with that in mind, go for a wool option, such as this style from Mackage. Click here for similar style. See below for some inspiration on how to wear this versatile style!
3. Leather / Moto-Jackets
For the past few years, we’ve seen the classic leather jacket that we all “have to have” evolve into a more moto-inspired style with lots of luxe hardware, buckles, and belts. Good news for us girly-girls: the motorocycle jacket is no longer reserved for men or that biker chick we all know. Lately we’ve spotted these jackets on some of the most feminine and stylish ladies, and as a key item in our fave models’ off-duty style (think: Kendall, and the “Gigis” of the world). To adopt leather for even the coldest of temperatures (we're in Canada, after all!), we suggest you consider looking for it on more traditional outerwear styles, such as on trench coats that you can layer under, or as a detail on a black wool coat. See our Mackage Cybil Coat for reference - we think it's the perfect example of adding that cropped leather jacket look into something practical and warm for winter.
4. The "Fashion Parka"
Last but not least, the fashion parka is the fashion god's answer to looking stylish while trekking through a winter storm. Gone are the days when the word "parka" was synonymous with unfashionable. And it’s no surprise that we love a good parka with a luxe fur hood (we’ve carried them in the stores for years now!), and it’s clear by all of the styles we saw on runways and on the streets during fashion month that this trend is here to stay. We’re obsessed with the styles by SAM., and Mackage’s famous coats which have high quality fur lined collars in addition to luxe down that keeps us warm on even the coldest days (remember two winters ago, Toronto? -40 temps...).
