It’s official: I’m now part of the mom club. While I’m over the moon happy to ditch my maternity clothes (can I please burn them?), I’ve quickly learned that the new mom wardrobe is a little different than my previous one. Between breastfeeding and the post-baby body, easy to wear and wash items are now my must-haves. Oh how quickly things have changed! Read on for my style tips and must-have pieces that i've sworn by since my son arrived!
Feeding Friendly Staples
Who would have known your entire world revolves around feeding schedules? To make life easy when I’m out and on the go, nursing friendly tops are a must. Classic button downs and off the shoulder tops make feeding a breeze.
Off The Shoulder Tops
I'm loving off the shoulder tops right now just for sake of ease, and also because they are so breathable and easy to throw on in the summer. No-fuss outfits are exactly what I need right now.

I’ve been living in my favourite Rails button front shirts. Whether I wear them open with a nursing tank or solo with a nursing friendly bra, they are an easy way to stay stylish while also making life with a newborn on the go easy. I’ve been living in this Carter Button Down and the Brittany Roll Sleeve top. Pair them with shorts during the warmer weather for a cute summer look.
Jeff and I have a wedding to attend in July that we plan to bring Arthur to (yes, we’re THAT couple with a baby at a wedding….). To make life simple that evening I plan to wear this sleeveless dress by L’Academie. The button front is perfect for easy feeding and the colour screams summer wedding. I’ll pair with some nude heels and a gold clutch for a classic look.
Post-Baby Body Friendly Pieces
It’s no secret that the new mom bod is a little different than our pre-pregnancy selves. Here are a few of my favourite pieces to help me stay stylish while getting back into pre-baby shape.
High Waisted Jeans
I’ve always been a fan of high waisted jeans, but now they are a real necessity! I LOVE the wash of the AG Farrah in Interim Destruct. They’re a perfect summer wash that I plan to live in for the next few months. I know a lot of moms like to wait to buy new jeans, but I think it’s important to size up a few sizes and get a new pair quickly that you can feel good in while you work hard to get back into shape. Who wants to live in leggings?
Chrissy Teigen got it right when wore chic kimonos with comfy shorts and cotton tees and tops post-pregnancy. For the days you want to look like you put in more effort into your outfit, without having to do so, kimonos are the way to go! Love this one by Amuse!
One-Piece Style Swimwear
While it's great having a new baby for the nice warm weather – walks and sunshine, etc - it’s another thing getting into a pool or the lake with a post baby bod. I plan to live at the cottage this summer, which means I need to up my one-piece swimwear game. Luckily one-pieces are the newest trend in swim. I love this Eberjey Beach Glow Suki suit.
Relaxed Fit Clothes
I’ve been living in t-shirts (and yes, leggings) lately. I seem to get spit up on or peed on on a daily basis. Easy to wash and wear items are more important now than ever. I can’t get enough of our staple Kira Tee by Velvet. The scoop neck and relaxed fit make them flattering on any body. I have them in every colour and they're super easy to wash while retaining their quality!
Another great option are maxi dresses and skirts. I'm loving this new style from Amuse Society for an easy look for hot summer days!
